ANASAZI Couples Program
There is much to be learned from Mother Earth; far more than we normally comprehend. The ancients knew this well—most particularly the wise teachers among them—those who, in the Navajo tongue, were called "Anasazi."
Strengthening & Healing Families
Since 1968, Larry D. Olsen and Ezekiel C. Sanchez have spent their lives, as the ancients, utilizing the wisdom of Mother Earth to help families heal and to strengthen relationships between struggling teens and their parents.
In 1988 they established ANASAZI Foundation in the picturesque high deserts of Arizona. Since then, the organization has helped more than 3,000 families turn their hearts to one another.
ANASAZI Foundation is now focusing its many years of successful intervention experience toward the heart of the home—the marriage relationship.
The goal is to build more loving, committed and resilient relationships between couples that will subsequently provide more loving, stable and nurturing environments for children to grow and develop.
The Making of a Marriage
ANASAZI, The Making of a Marriage provides a challenging outdoor experience in beautiful and remote wilderness locations. Free from the stresses and distractions of modern life, hearts awaken to the fundamental principles and practices that form the foundation of every successful relationship
ANASAZI, The Making of a Marriage is a four-day wilderness experience staffed by caring outdoor survival experts, licensed marital therapists, and trained relationship educators.
Participants will learn from the simple truths found in the traditions of the ancient inhabitants of the Desert Southwest, and from the many powerful metaphors provided by nature itself. Based on a curriculum developed by the leading minds in marriage education and family therapy, the program provides:
- A restorative environment in which to address relationship issues.
- Limited group size.
- Individual and group interaction with staff.
- An opportunity to leave behind the old and begin anew.
- Follow-up support.
For Married and Premarital Couples
Married partners will have a meaningful experience that will invite understanding, teach relationship principles and skills, and provide an opportunity
for spiritual awakenings and personal growth.
Couples who are preparing for marriage will have an unique opportunity to get to know their potential spouse in a deeper way and help set the tone
for a successful union.
The ANASAZI Way
The Anasazi of old understood well that no man is as wise as Mother Earth. She has witnessed every human day, every human success, every human struggle. For the maladies of both body and spirit, the wise ones of old pointed man to the hills. For man too is of the dust, and Mother Earth stands ready always to nurture and heal her children.
"Nature is a not a harsh place, but a place in which each person may walk in beauty. It is a quiet place that grants time to think and ponder life anew."
--Larry D. Olsen, Author of "Outdoor Survival Skills," ANASAZI Founder
"The heart is where the change has to begin for a true walking in harmony. Walking in harmony is being at peace with all that is around you with your heart and mind in balance."
--Ezekiel C. Sanchez, Totonac Indian, ANASAZI Founder
"All of you who are associated with ANASAZI...are truly lighting the way for people lost in the dark."
--Barbara Bush, Former First Lady
"ANASAZI uses the principles I believe in. With caring and personal sacrifice, the staff and the realities of the wilderness soften hearts and build confidence of the right kind."
--Stephen R. Covey, Author of "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People"
