Humanitarian Program to India
09/07/2005
Dear ANASAZI Friends and Families,
I appreciate all the feedback and interest sparked by our new
project under development in India. For those who missed our
letter two weeks ago, the following is a quick recap:
- We are currently developing a pilot project for a
humanitarian program at the Pathway orphanage in Southern India.
- This program will complement the experiences and care that
Young Walkers receive on the trail. It will also provide an
opportunity for young people who may benefit more from a
humanitarian experience, rather than ANASAZI's traditional
wilderness-based program.
- This program will provide the opportunity for growth through
a dynamic curricula of service, study, culture, travel, and
nature.
- We will be hand-selecting eight students for a two-month
pilot program that starts at the end of October and wraps up
before the holidays.
Many have asked about school credit available to students
enrolled in the ANASAZI-Pathway program. Here is an update:
At ANASAZI-Pathway, there will be daily classroom study, which
will be conducted by trained ANASAZI staff. Young Walkers will
have various options for high school credit such as
correspondence courses, and online charter classes. There will
also be educational opportunities inherent in the
ANASAZI-Pathway program that will qualify the students to
receive credit in elective courses such as Travel Study. With
these options, an educational plan will be tailored towards each
student's individual needs for graduation. In order to optimize
these educational plans, we have partnered with Blueprint
Education; an accredited distance learning school. Blueprint
Education will offer correspondence courses for Young Walkers I
invite you to visit Blueprint's website at
www.blueprinteducation.org.
You will find their course catalog
in the student section. A Blueprint counselor will be available
to answer any questions you may have and will also work with
your school counselor to facilitate the transference of
Blueprint's credits to your home school.
Hopefully you find this information helpful and once again,
should you have any other questions, please contact me.
Thanks,
Trevor Terry
