Alumni Young Walker's Journey in Iraq
09/22/2004

Anasazi Alumni Sam Rogers continues to walk forward as he serves his country as a combat medic in Iraq. Sam has a wife and two sons that live in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Below Sam shares some thoughts about his service in Iraq:

"Things here are very much twisted by the media. I can tell you first hand, that the threat to our country and its freedom is real. The war is not over; Americans, Iraqi's, and many others put their lives on the line every day here, and many give their lives in service. We still have a lot of work to do here so Iraq can stand on its own, and leaving it anything less than well-prepared and competent would only make waste of all the good things we have done here. Many of the nationals here are awesome and have a dream of a much brighter future, many still need some convincing as to what real freedom and prosperity mean; but all in all things here are well and for the most part continue to get better."

Our Young Walkers Alumni around the world continue to make us proud as they continue their forward walking.

"Right now, my daughter is happy and playful and fun to be around. We talk all the time. She does her chores and always keeps her curfew. She is beginning to have a good life again. She is alive, and for this I am truly grateful. I will forever be grateful for Anasazi, for the Trail Walkers, for Ezekiel, for all the staff at Anasazi, for the anonymous and not-so-anonymous ones that donated time and money so that I could send my beautiful daughter to just the right place for our whole family to heal."
