ANASAZI Foundation's "Take the Time to Talk" Campaign Receives National Emmy Nomination
10/05/2005

Community Service Initiative Developed in Partnership with Drug Free AZ and ABC15 Earns National Recognition for Phoenix-Area ABC Affiliate

Mesa, Arizona (October 5, 2005)-"Take the Time to Talk," a substance-abuse awareness and prevention campaign co-sponsored by ANASAZI Foundation, Drug Free AZ, and ABC15, is one of eight community service programs in the United States nominated for a national Emmy Award.

The ongoing campaign teaches parents how and when to talk with their children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Research shows children are 54 percent less likely to abuse drugs following a meaningful discussion with their parents.

Take the Time to Talk in 2004 included a televised community forum and a community-wide education effort. Nearly 3000 education booklets and interactive DVDs were distributed to parents at numerous schools, town hall meetings, and other community events. The effort also featured news stories and public service announcements airing throughout the year on ABC15 newscasts and programs.

The 2004 Community Service Emmy will be awarded in New York on October 21, 2005. More information on the award is available at www.emmyonline.tv/emmy/public.html.

For Take the Time to Talk 2005, ANASAZI Foundation has teamed with ABC15 and the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. The campaign's culminating community event-the Forever Young Foundation Talk, Walk & Run-will take place October 29, 2005, on the runway at Williams Gateway Airport in Mesa. More information on the family-oriented race is available at www.talkwalkrun.org.
