I am ANASAZI

Greetings from amongst the catclaw and mesquite in colorful Arizona! I am GoodBuffaloEagle.
Twenty years have passed since Larry Dean Olsen and I arrived in Arizona to create ANASAZI, The Making of a Walking. Larry came to help families year-round in the warmth of the desert.
I came because of a night dream.
In my dream, I met thousands of young people who thanked me for helping to start a program, which touched their hearts and healed relationships with their moms and dads. I knew it was the young people themselves, who had changed their lives, and I told them so, but they kept coming to me in gratitude. The line went for as far as the eye could see.
Soon after I awoke, I gave notice at my good job in Utah, crowded my seven little Indians into our old station wagon, and headed to Arizona. I dare not ignore such a clear message from my Creator.
I was sent.
Since that day, I have been humbled and honored by thousands of young people, parents, and the ANASAZI Shadows, TrailWalkers, and office staff that have walked with us among the cactus and saguaro places. Together we have laughed, cried, and learned much about the One who Stands Within and the world around us. We have shared some of the most demanding and finest days of our lives.
For the most part, YoungWalkers who left the trail returned home filled with their newfound Seeds of Greatness, to mend family relationships, finish school or go on to college.
Numerous YoungWalkers have gone forward to become mothers, fathers, doctors, lawyers, or successful in a variety of businesses.
Some 200+ ANASAZI TrailWalkers have seen each other’s greatness, despite the dirt and grime of the trail, and gotten married and are rearing good families.
Quite a few YoungWalkers have come back as ANASAZI TrailWalkers, serving so that others might find hope in a New Beginning.
WE – All Of Us – Are ANASAZI!
All of you who have shared in my dream–walked among the catclaw, slept on Mother Earth, or shown others the way back to their parents’ loving arms – I desire to thank and honor you. You are now, part of the ANASAZI Family. Your sacrifices from the heart have made ANASAZI Foundation the model in its field and a standard-bearer for the quality of care in programs throughout the world. I say this not to crow, for ANASAZI is as much yours as it is mine. Your love has planted the ANASAZI Way philosophy into the Sacred Pouch of our hearts.
This ANASAZI FireCircle blog is a place for the ANASAZI family to walk as WE in the Wilderness of the World, share awakenings, and learn from one another, and encourage each other to continue in our New Beginning. As always, we reach out and invite all two-legged beings to participate in the Talking of the Heart and join our ever-growing numbers.
I am GoodBuffaloEagle and I have spoken.

I loved your statement at end that says” Anasazi is an “idea that lives within each of us.” My husband and I walked one of the beginning trails (survival) while at BYU in 1972. Still after over 30 years I think about and draw on my wilderness experiences weekly. They became a part of who I am, It is the memories of those experience that help me face and get through hard challenges in everyday life. They have become a part of who I am and will remain in my heart forever. I want to thank you for following your dream and keeping “survival” through Anasazi alive.
After 30 years I have now sent 5 of my children to Anasazi and a few more have worked there. We as a family have shared in your dream, we “walked among the catclaw, slept on Mother Earth, and shown others the way back to their parents’ loving arms. While involved at Anasazi, together our family has ” laughed, cried, and learned much about ourselves ..We have shared some of the best days of our lives ” with each other. I wish to thank you, and all others that serve for giving your hearts and making sacrifices so that ANASAZI became a wonderful part of our lives. ” We are Anasazi”
The experiences I had out there as a 16 year old boy had a huge effect on the man I am today…. Thanks to you and the others who walked with us I will never forget those months in the desert. I still have the necklace dancing hands gave us b4 we left for home. I even made a pair of paints just like his shortly after my return, which I still use every time i return to nature. something I do whenever i get lost… Time has flown by. I’m 27 years old now, managed to get thru high school and college, got addicted to Jiujitsu, and joined the circus for a few years. Now I run a small film/video production cmpy in Miami. Recently I’ve been in the process of starting a NPO down here with the mission of helping to preserve our Everglades. None of this would of been possible if you would have not followed this vision that you speak of. I AM ANAZAZI! the manifestation of GoodBuffaloEagle’s vision. i write to thank you first. and second, to ask how i could help continue this truly life changing program. 11 or 12 years have passed since i last walked amongst the cactus and saguaro but there are still many miles to walk and I’m sure our trails will converge again…

Just wanted to say how much after 11 years I have still kept from your program. Don’t know how you found me, but it was an amazing time in my life and although it did take me quite a few years to get to the person I am now, your organization planted the seeds!
Thank you!
With love and affection,
Kelly Rigg
I was thinking about my time on the trail and wanted to thank all the trailwalkers and staff! It was a honor to walk forward with each and everyone of you.. Anasazi will forever be in my heart, and i thank you for that..
Thank you!

GoodBuffaloEagle:
My son and I celebrated the 10th anniversary of his awakening last year. Again I thank you for giving my son back to me, but even more, for giving him to himself. I am so very proud of the values he has chosen to adhere to in this life; everything has and will follow from that.
May the universe daily open its abundance to you and to all who serve your noble purpose with you.
