Fall 2011 ANASAZI DawnStar Walking

ANASAZI Foundation will conduct a four-day DawnStar Walking for alumni and friends November 18-21 in Arizona’s beautiful Tonto National Forest. The short wilderness-based program will follow ANASAZI’s annual Scholarship Dinner and Alumni Gathering on November 17.

Participants in the DawnStar Walking will learn from the Seven Paths of the ANASAZI Way and discover what nature teaches about leadership. The course also includes hiking, instruction in primitive skills, and plenty of time for cooking, eating, and games. The cost for each participant is $650, and separate programs are available for adolescents (12-17) and adults (18+).

A deposit of $100 is required to secure participation. Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis with only nine slots available per group–so ACT SOON! Great Creator, the Ancient Father of my fathers, look upon both young and old, stumbling through mists of shadows. Heed their anguished cries; hear their weeping in the darkness of despair. Great are the number of those who stagger in the brilliance of the noonday sun. Touch their eyes that they may see…open their ears that they may hear. Mend their broken hearts with tenderness. Cradle them in thy bosom; wipe their tears and give them hope for a new beginning. Hear my simple cry, Great Creator of all two-legged beings. Instill courage and determination in thy children to face with audacity the storms and winds that blow in the way of the good Path of Life.

Do you know a former YoungWalker/Sinagua Walker who has accomplished great things since leaving the ANASAZI trail? Nominate him or her for the 2009 Young Leader award!

Each year, ANASAZI Foundation teams with Forever Young Foundation to recognize five exceptional alumni who exemplify the principles of the ANASAZI Way. For 2009, the five finalists will each receive a scholarship of at least $1000 and be profiled in short video documentaries to be featured on the ANASAZI website. One of the five will be named ANASAZI’s Young Leader for 2009 and receive an award of $2000. All awards will be presented in person by NFL legend and Forever Young founder Steve Young!

Ezekiel Sanchez

ANASAZI founder Ezekiel Sanchez is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of wilderness therapy. He’s also the creator of the ANASAZI Way, a widely admired, loving approach to helping young people and their families.

Check this section often as Ezekiel and other ANASAZI leaders will offer their thoughts on this approach and its applications in everyday life. You may also learn a little about ANASAZI’s Path of Plants, as Ezekiel is one of the foremost experts in the medicinal and edible plants of the Southwest.
